Cowboy and American Indian Links

Writing and Author Links

I live in Illinois – not exactly the American West. But thanks to the Internet, visiting these sites is the next best thing!

Lakota Language Consortium: My characters are really speaking Lakota. These people make that possible.

The Link Center Foundation: If you want to help make life better on American Indian reservations, this is a good place to start. The Link Center Foundation helps keep the Lakota elders, disabled, and seriously ill warm during the severe winters. The need is huge.

The National Museum of the American Indian: Go. Visit. Learn. An amazing place.

Women’s Roughstock Foundation: The few, the brave, the fearless women who put it all on the line to ride bulls!

The Pioneer Woman: As she says, “Plowing through life one calf nut at a time!” Modern day ranching – from a woman’s perspective.

The Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center: Every time we’ve driven across South Dakota, we’ve stopped here. A fascinating place!

Professional Championship Bullriders: They came to my hometown and put on a heck of a show. Gotta love cowboys in the flesh!

Shop Creek Cattle: Every one of my bulls was modeled off of the fine fellows bred at this ranch.

A short list of resources I use. There’s a lot more to writing than just words on paper!

Larsen Pomada Literary Agents: In case you hadn’t noticed from the six thousand other times I’ve mentioned it, Laurie McLean is my agent.

The Romance Writers of America: If someone in your book is falling in love, this organization is a treasure trove of usefulness.

The Chicago-North RWA: My 'local' chapter of the RWA. Wonderful, wonderful people.

Women Writing the West: An organization of writers promoting women in the West.

The International Association for the Study of Popular Romance: A perfect blend of academia and romance.

The Passionate Pen: If you have a question about the business side of writing, chances are, the answer is on this site.

Romance University: Learn what you didn’t know. Which, in my case, turns out to be a lot.
