Long a devoted reader of Victorian novels, Sarah Anderson earned a Bachelor's of Arts in English from Truman State University and a Master's of Arts in English from The Ohio State University. After moving to Chicago, she worked as an editor for an educational media company and as an English as a Second Language instructor.

And through it all, she knew she wanted to write a novel. She just had no idea how to do it.

It took a caffeine-fueled car trip with her 92-year-old grandmother and two-year-old son in July of 2007 to awaken her Muse.
